Live Your WHY

Live Your WHY

with one of Simon's Master Trainers

About This Class

The fourth part of your WHY journey

For the best WHY journey experience, we recommend taking all four classes in order: Start with WHYRefine Your WHYApply your Why → Live Your WHY.

Have you Already started your WHY discovery journey? Be sure to scroll down for an important note*

Buy the WHY Series and save 15%

This part of the WHY Journey may be labeled as the fourth, but it doesn’t mean it has to be the final. The goal of this class is to engage in a discussion with your instructor and classmates by asking questions, sharing ideas, and connecting with one another through living your WHY. The best part? This class is designed to be taken again and again. Think of these sessions as a place to periodically touch base, reassess where you are in your WHY Journey, and share any revelations you might have had about your WHY since you last joined.

In this class, you will:

  •  Learn the tips and tools to engrain your WHY into your everyday life
  •  Have an opportunity to connect with a coach on how to put your WHY into action
  •  Create a community of support and empowerment with your classmates
  •  Have the opportunity to ask all of the questions you may still have from taking parts 1-3 of the WHY Series
  •  Share your WHY Journey with others

*An Important Note: Firstly, thanks for scrolling! You wanted more, and we are happy to deliver! The WHY series is now 4 Parts; Start with WHY, Refine Your WHY, Apply Your WHY (formerly known as Live Your Why), and our BRAND NEW COURSE,  Live Your WHY. If you took the third part of this series (even if it was called Live your WHY), this iteration of Live Your WHY is NOT the same course, but rather a discussion based addition to the WHY series!

Navigate Difficult and Courageous Conversations

Navigate Difficult and Courageous Conversations

with Jenna Arnold

About This Class

Want to make a change in your workplace and grow together? Well, we want to help! This class is great for teams looking to find common ground and communicate through conflict.

The world we live in seems to be increasingly focused on the things that divide us. Many of us find ourselves either arguing unproductively or completely avoiding issues that deeply impact our lives and society in the future. We are more informed and technologically connected now than ever before, yet our ability to have open, honest and respectful dialogue across differing perspectives seems increasingly more at risk.

It is time to get clear on the specific roadblocks getting in the way of reaching your maximized potential professionally and personally. This workshop provides turn-key tools to have those conversations productively (key word!).

Using the best strategies for navigating confrontation, defusing defensiveness, and finding common ground in shared values, this workshop teaches participants how to do the hard work: communicate through conflict.

In this class you will:

  • Learn the importance of shedding your ego and staying curious in challenging conversations
  • Understand power of humility and vulnerability in diffusing tense situations
  • Gain the value of asking questions and seeking to understand rather than prove a point
  • Embrace the ongoing need for learning and flexibility in engaging in courageous conversations.

Jenna Arnold believes complacency is the cancer of humanity. She is constantly looking for new ways to educate and engage untapped communities into problem solving machines. Through her work as an author of the recent best selling book, Raising Our Hands, a frequent guest on MSNBC & FOX, one of Oprah’s Super Soul 100 “using their voices to elevate humanity”, and one of the 2017 Women’s March organizers, Jenna takes her ability to simplify highly complex subjects to make them approachable for audiences eager to be involved in making the world better.

Leaders Eat Last

Leaders Eat Last

with our Optimist Instructors

About This Class

Want to make a change in your workplace and grow together? Well, we want to help! This class is great for teams looking to band together and provide mutual support and safety.

Leadership is not about being in charge, it’s about taking care of those in your charge. Anyone can learn to be a great leader—it’s a practice and the first requirement is you have to want to be one.

In this class, we will unpack and experience the concepts from Simon Sinek’s New York Times Bestseller, Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don’t. We will explore the concepts and practices that distinguish the difference between teams that stick together and thrive come what may and those doomed to fail despite incentives, talent and opportunity.

When leaders create the right conditions and environment for their people, individuals instinctively support one another. Caring leadership empowers teams to overcome the dangers that threaten their potential for success in today’s challenging marketplace and thrive together. When everyone feels they belong and are able to show up together with purpose, potential is limitless.

Together we will:

  • Define what it truly means to lead
  • Understand how to create a Circle of Safety and why this is crucial for your team’s performance
  • Examine the natural drivers that exist within us all that help make us feel inspired, safe and fulfilled
  • Learn how to combat the inevitable stresses and dangers that threaten your organization, team, and each individual

Happy Culture, Happy People

Happy Culture, Happy People

with Samantha Clarke

About This Class

Want to make a change in your workplace and grow together? Well, we want to help! This class is great for teams looking to prioritize happiness and growth at work.

What does it mean to have a happy working culture? When most of us picture it, it includes images of team members excited to begin their working day; smiling, laughing, and collaborating harmoniously with each other, under the watchful eye of a strong but benevolent boss. With a clear purpose, motivation is high and the company’s achievements are a direct result of the fulfillment of its employees.

Is this the reality? Sadly no. Forbes recently reported that over 50% of US employees are unhappy at work. That’s the bad news. The good news, however, is that we can change this.

This class is designed to shake up your business so that it’s firing on all cylinders by creating a culture of positivity and growth. By elevating emotional intelligence, empowering managers to look after their team’s well-being, navigating the impacts of technology and remote work, and by building an environment that supports, retains, and attracts happy employees, you can change your culture for good.

Together we will:

  • Cultivate a positive and optimistic business outlook that is still realistic
  • Learn how to grow your employees inner strengths and resilience
  • Enable employees to interrogate the causes of their stress and anxiety and help them manage it effectively
  • Teach methods for generating more positive emotions in turbulent situations and handle conflict with poise
  • Identify aspects of your culture which need to change in order for everyone’s well-being to improve

Deliver & Accept Feedback Effectively

Deliver & Accept Feedback Effectively

with Kristen Hadeed

About This Class

Want to make a change in your workplace and grow together? Well, we want to help! This class is great for teams looking to make sustainable improvements to communication methods and systems.

We’ve all been there. We know we need to have a conversation with a colleague about their performance or behavior, and we do everything in our power to avoid it. Giving and receiving feedback is like a muscle we need to train. We’ve all had a situation where a feedback conversation turns into a defensive one where one or both parties end up shutting down. Feedback conversations are hard, and yet, they’re often the most rewarding and important conversations we can have to help each other grow.

Together we will:

  • Give and receive feedback effectively, so that you can hold people accountable while still showing them care and support
  • Explore strategies for initiating, having, and following up on difficult conversations—whether virtual or in-person
  • Confront the issues you’ve been avoiding by reframing the conversations you dread as opportunities to foster connection and trust

Kristen Hadeed believes that authentic, human leadership can change the world. At 19, with hardly any leadership experience, Kristen started a cleaning business called Student Maid. She never expected it to be her career; it was simply a way to earn money while she was in college. But before she graduated, her company received a contract to clean hundreds of apartments, and it changed her path forever.

Kristen hired 60 people to help her and, within days, 75% of the team had quit. That’s when Kristen’s obsession with learning how to be a leader began. Over the next 14 years, Kristen learned a lot by screwing up. But most importantly, she learned how to lead from her heart. Doing so helped her take Student Maid from a small cleaning company to a business known globally for its culture of belonging, its focus on people, and its purpose of building leaders.

Today, Kristen spends her time helping leaders, teams, and organizations around the world embrace their humanity. She’s worked with just about every industry with one purpose behind it all: to build a better world through courageous, compassionate leadership.

Kristen’s work has been featured in news outlets including PBS, FOX, Inc., NBC, TIME, and Forbes. Kristen’s book, Permission To Screw Up, has sold more than 37,000 copies worldwide. Her first TED Talk has more than three million views on YouTube.

Create a Culture Where Everyone Matters

Create a Culture Where Everyone Matters

with Zach Mercurio

About This Class

Want to make a change in your workplace and grow together? Well, we want to help! This class is great for teams looking to cultivate a new sense of community and care at work.

Research shows that feeling like you matter at work isn’t a generational preference or “nice to have”. It’s a fundamental human need and is critical for motivation, fulfillment, and wellbeing. Enabling meaningful work is also a skillset that leaders can learn.

With changing modes of work, job insecurity, and heightened awareness of social injustice, enabling the experience of meaningfulness is a vital skill for next-generation leaders.

Together we will:

  • Discover the three ingredients for meaningful work and why they’re vital for well-being
  • Learn how to create a culture of significance at work
  • Understand how to make people feel noticed, affirmed, and needed every single day
  • Improve your ability to design and delegate tasks so people clearly see how their contribution matters
  • Realize the power of connecting people’s everyday tasks to a bigger purpose

A spark is something quite small and, by itself, not very powerful. But a spark has the ability to ignite. An idea is like a spark; alone it is just a set of words, but it too can ignite. A great idea can inspire others to dream bigger. Let us all work together to ignite something greater than ourselves.

Let us all be a Spark of Optimism.
